Forth Act Membership

Membership is a requirement of the Forth Act theatre company for those involved in our casts or production teams, which is similar to most amateur and community theatre groups. However, anyone can be a member of The Forth Act and support our activities, even if they do not wish to take part in our productions.

Membership can be beneficial to both members and the charity in that:

• Members will be the first to hear about opportunities to audition for our upcoming shows, to be part of our production teams, or to be involved in other aspects of our activities.
• The charity has a core group of people that it knows are willing to be involved in and support our productions.
• Membership fees form a key part of our charitable income which enables us to support the production costs of our shows e.g. insurance, rehearsal and production space costs, and marketing. 
• Members have a say in who serves as Trustees on The Forth Act Board and other constitutional matters.

Please note our eligibility requirements for membership are anyone aged 18 or over, who is interested in arts and the theatre, and who generally live within 30 miles of the City of Edinburgh. Our annual membership runs between July to the end of the following June and we will contact members about renewals. Signing up for an annual membership would cover you if you join as part of the cast or production crew for all shows within that period.  You are also able to join on a one show basis at a slightly reduced fee and if you then were involved in an additional show in the same membership year you would be asked to just pay the difference to move to an annual fee. All committee members are expected to become annual members during their period of service.

*Concession means a student, receiving state pension or benefits.

Forth Act Volunteers

Volunteers are those who assist front of house or backstage for specific shows, or who may be involved in costume, props and set work but not as fully as the main production team. They usually join per production and some roles may only be needed around the performance dates.  There is NO Membership Fee for Volunteers although they are welcome to sign up for full membership to support the Forth Act.

We expect all members and volunteers to adhere to the Forth Act Code of Conduct.

In the interest of ensuring ALL Members, Volunteers, Audience and Guests of The Forth Act are treated with respect and dignity, we ask all Members and Volunteers to adhere to the following:

Members and Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and be kind and respectful at all times. All behaviours and decisions should be conducted and made in the best interest of the Forth Act, its Members, Volunteers, Audiences, and our guests.

The Forth Act values diversity and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all Members, Volunteers, Audience, and our guests feel valued and respected. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of bullying will not be tolerated.

Be Kind and Courteous

Our time in rehearsals, performances and social events should always be a welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone. Please be respectful, polite and kind at all times.

Punctuality and Planning

Good time keeping is an essential part of running efficient and productive rehearsals and performances. All Members and Volunteers are expected to ensure that they know and adhere to the schedules and activities they are committed to. They should be able to attend all of the required rehearsals, and any absences need to be notified as soon as possible.

Social Media

If you have something good to say about The Forth Act, please tell others. If you have something concerning or negative to say about The Forth Act, please tell a member of The Forth Act Committee and don’t post it on any social media. Please respect the privacy and dignity of all Members and Volunteers on social media.

Health and Safety

A commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment is the responsibility of every Member and Volunteer. Please report any hazards or unsafe conditions and seek advice from the Committee, Chair, or Production Crew should you have any concerns.
